Phantasy Star IV was my first console RPG and established my eventual abandonment of PC RPGs. It was the first time I was presented with a character driven storyline with gorgeous graphics, a unique setting, and original monster designs. I eventually played the previous three Phantasy Star games and came to appreciate the series even more, though IV was definitely the best of the bunch. The Phantasy Star 1st Series Complete Album was the last Sega Direct product ever released which shipped with the PlayStation 2 Phantasy Star Collection in Japan, so it is an album that cannot be purchased at retail. While there are rips of the Phantasy Star games all over the place, what is offered below are all the tunes from the Sega Saturn Phantasy Star Collection as featured on the first disc of this soundtrack. All but the Title song are remixes of old Phantasy Star tunes.
